Representation in the media is what is intentionally put into a media sequence. For example, every sound or camera angle is there for a reason, to have a certain effect on the audience.
Gender can be very stereotyped in the media. Many objects are represented to be masculine and feminine, not just humans. Media gives us many ideas about what it’s like to be male or female, it also gives us views of males and females around today, and it may only show us a certain type of people. This may not be right, as it does not give us a proper idea of what all males and females may be like.
Feminism usually links to beauty, size, emotions, relationships and sexuality. In drama, they are most often represented as the helper, rather than the active character. Whereas masculinity usually links to strength, power, sexual attractiveness and independence. This is all stereo typing, all women and men are not like this is real life.
